Raise Money, Recycle and Benefit Your Environment

Information for Secondary Schools

Jewellery Recycling really is a very easy way for you to raise money, whilst encouraging social responsibility to your supporters through recycling and supporting the environment.

How Does It Work For Secondary Schools?

You may have heard of mobile phone or ink cartridge recycling. Now you can recycle jewellery to raise money. Everyone has odd earrings, broken chains, etc and they are more than happy to see these unwanted items recycled for the benefit of a charitable cause, hence ‘The Jewellery Recycling Collection’ has been developed. We will provide everything you need to collect old jewellery, we even provide an Art Pencil Set as a prize for one child and arrange the valuation, sale and recycling of the collected items.

All you have to do is contact us. We will then send you a jewellery recycling kit

You inform your parents that you are collecting unwanted jewellery, (via your usual way of communication) - usually by letter - please note we send you a letter that you could photocopy and use - if you'd prefer.

Once the jewellery has been collected, it's just a quick call to us and we will collect it from you and arrange for it to be recycled.

Your Parents can donate any unwanted jewellery, gold, silver, odd earrings, broken chains, watches, costume jewellery etc.

Please note we do not send jewellery recycling envelopes out to secondary schools as we have found that distributing the envelopes does not work. Experience has shown us that older children are less likely to take their collecting envelopes home or bring them back into school. As a recycling project we want to ensure that we are not wasting envelopes hence if you are a secondary school, we ask you to simply inform/promote the project to your parents and give us a call when you have jewellery to be collected.

Within eight weeks after receiving your donated jewellery, we will send you a cheque dependant on the total value of the collected items.

Top Tip for a really successful event:

If parents/staff offer their families, friends and work colleagues a chance to join in and clear out their unwanted jewellery your result is sure to improve.

Schools say it’s easy:

Why should I recycle?

Recycling reduces the demand for raw materials. This means less mining or quarrying. Many parts of the world have been blighted by mining and quarrying, which destroy the natural environment and wildlife habitats and can cause environmental and health problems for local people. Recycling is one way in which our community can lessen their usage of resources and help protect the environment.
